Do you still remember the nights upon the stars? The unspoken “puppy love” that does not fade with time? Reminiscing through the mischievous and fearless days, where we soar for our dreams? 

During the young and restless days of college student Hok Liang, love was everything. Three ladies each occupying a special spot in his heart, left unforgettable footprints in his life. Together with his classmates, army pals, a Chinese aristocrat, friends from different cultural backgrounds… these individuals that appeared in his life, accompanied him in his journey to examine his personal identity. 

Adapted from Singapore’s novelist Chia Joo Ming’s work, Exile or Pursuit, walks us down through memory lane, as the three love stories of Hok Liang unfolds. Directed by theatre veteran Jalyn Han, the music drama Exile or Pursuit, spanning three decades from the 70s to 90s telling fold memories of our growing up years, is not to be missed!

Pop-Up Noise: Soul Searching

In this experimental edition of Pop-Up Noise: Soul Searching, Chinatown’s rich stories inspire contemporary artistic responses from visual art to interactive performances. First presented to the residents of Kreta Ayer Square, these artworks revive the experiences of a generation in a space that witnessed Singapore’s rapid progress and transformation. Join our young artists on this journey of discovery as they reconnect with history.

走过路过千万不要错过，30名青年艺术家将神游此地，随着社区和历史起舞，天马行空。

这项《Pop-Up Noise：寻根究底》的实验性计划，即推出一系列视觉艺术和互动式演出的创作实验，皆由牛车水丰富多彩的故事所启发。作品将首度呈现给牛车水广场的居民，在这个见证了新加坡飞速发展与变化的空间里，让一个世代的经历逐渐苏醒。让我们和青年艺术家，一同踏上这趟寻根究底之旅，与历史邂逅、久别重逢。

起航 Voyage

Voyage is a spectacular musical and visual journey that celebrates Singapore Chinese culture. Featuring familiar nursery rhymes and folk songs re-arranged by the critically-acclaimed The TENG Ensemble, coupled with the use of 3D projection mapping and holographic imagery synchronised with lights, each act will take audiences to a different dreamscape, where Chinese art forms and traditional values are presented with a contemporary touch.

由本地著名导演陈子谦亲自监制的新加坡华族文化中心开幕演出《起航》，结合了音乐、灯光和多媒体元素，是一场彰显新加坡华族文化丰富多元面貌的视听盛宴。备受瞩目的鼟乐团（The TENG Ensemble）将重新编曲、呈献多首耳熟能详的童谣和民谣。演出以创新手法呈现华族艺术形式和传统价值观，配合特别设计的立体全息投影，以及灯光效果，让观众宛如置身幻境。

Lianhe Zaobao 90th Anniversary Arts Extravaganza Concert
联合早报90周年报庆 大型户外艺术飨宴

由《星洲日报》与《南洋商报》合并而成的《联合早报》，今年迈入第90个年头。配合90周年报庆，早报将为读者举办一场形式多样雅俗共赏的免费大型户外艺术飨宴“九。歌”。

这是与读者同欢的庆典，也是对本地艺术和艺术家的礼赞。荟萃来自音乐、舞蹈、剧场、视觉艺术等领域的杰出艺术家和艺术工作者，其中包括唐四重奏、麦克疯人声乐团、舞人舞团、惊鼓人打击乐团、十指帮偶艺团、爱乐管乐团、鼎艺团，以及著名雕塑家杨子强、女高音歌唱家周小曼、戏曲表演艺术家蔡碧霞、京剧表演艺术家黄萍、独立舞者林振发、胡琴演奏家郑景文、中国相声大师马季第三代传人苏维胜、资深广播员黄文鸿等人。

他们将在同一个舞台上融合、碰撞，所产生的奇妙化学作用，成就了一台跨形式、跨年龄、跨语汇的演出，整个演出的构成，并以有机的方式紧扣早报报庆“历久弥新”的标语。

此次大型演出，由本地知名剧场工作者韩雪卿担任艺术总监。

A group of people wakes up from an accident to find that they are caught in the world of the inbetween, unsure if they are dead or alive. They start to reflect, and try to salvage whatever is left of their memory, while yearning for a glimpse of a beacon of hope somewhere Afar. Soon, they realise the completeness and accuracy of their fast fading memories to be a matter of life and death. How far can what they remember bring them?

…an exploration of love, lies and loss through a new language.
Ming, Oscar, Robert and Daniel are entangled in a web of passion. They love and hate one another but they invariably come back to the place where they first started – a place of love and understanding. The four characters battle their own demons while struggling to free one another from their ghosts. In the process, they find new meaning in the words they use, and ultimately, create a language of their own.

何处一盏灯 HO AM I

HO AM I (何处一盏灯) is a drama that traces the life and contributions of late Venerable Ho Yuen Hoe who represented different facets of a woman’s life – a filial daughter, a loving mother, an entrepreneur, a nun, a carer of elderly and a community leader. Put up by popular local artistes like 叶世品, 谢静仪, 易凌, 许桂荧, 管雪梅, 孙葆伶and 王利秦 as well as 有维法师, the musical highlights Ven Ho’s experiences from her bitter childhood days till the latter half of her life where she devoted selflessly to the care of many elderly.

The remarkable history of Ven Ho affords a peek into the traditional trades that sustained the livelihoods of our forefathers, and the samsui women who occupy a unique place in our nation building. Ven Ho’s single minded pursuit was to nurture and care for women in need in her sheltered home. As a “vegetarian lady” she cooked and sold vegetarian food to support them and brought light into their lives. Her enduring faith, resilience and desire for a better home for the elderly culminated in the development of the Man Fut Tong Nursing Home.

Expect to be deeply moved and touched by the wholehearted devotion Ven Ho has towards her passion for serving others and be enlightened about life beyond material gains. Through this heartfelt musical, we hope to spread her indomitable spirit of love and care for others to many more out there and as a role model for all to emulate.
